Every time we do
something that we haven't done before in southern Oregon we wonder, why haven't we done this
before? That is how we feel about the
Oregon Shakespeare Festival Green Show!
The Green Show is a an outdoor concert that takes place at an amphitheater in front the Elizabethan and Angus Bowmer Theatres in Ashland.
We finally made it
to one of the shows and we were blown away by the amazing musicians there. We were privileged enough to see Mariachi Juvenil Mestizo. This was a group of
very talented musicians, 9 to 19 years old, playing various instruments and many
of them sang too! They had just gotten
done at the Portland Bluesfest and were flying high from the experience. They were funny, entertaining, and
endearing. Olivia and Ilias really
enjoyed the show, especially when the nine year old violin player sang her song. All of the performers were quite talented but the nine year old really impressed them. After their performance we purchased their CD and the
artists were so excited to sign autographs.
I even said to them, you all don't have to sign the CD if you don't want
to and one of the young ladies said "are you kidding me this is our first
time doing this, we all want to sign it!". It was so sweet!
The OSF Green Show
takes place five days a week, Tuesday - Sunday at 645pm. There are no seats so make sure you bring a
blanket and get there at least 45 minutes early, if you want to be in a shady
spot. We did see people with full
picnics so you can make a full evening of it, but the show itself is just about
an hour long so we just brought some water and a snack. There is a little snack
bar across the way in front of the Thomas Theatre if you want to grab a last
minute bite. There are some
fantastic shows coming up that have caught our eye such as the Bathtub Gin Serenaders, Ballet Folklorico, and ScienceWorks. Their schedule is so diverse that you can be completely entertained
every night they have a show.
